The Board’s mandate is to hear and determine appeals from:

(a) a decision that a person is ineligible for shared-ride public transportation service made by Transit Access Eligibility; or
(b) a decision that a person is conditionally eligible for shared-ride public transportation service made by Transit Access Eligibility.


The Board must base all decisions on an appellant’s ability to use Calgary Transit buses and CTrains.

Board Information

Term: 2 years

A public member may serve a maximum of six consecutive years.

3 Public Members, who are persons with disabilities or are professionals who work with people who have disabilities;
3 Public Members who are or were health care practitioners (e.g., doctors, nurses, therapists); 
1 citizen-at-large

In person meetings every third Tuesday of the month at 5:00pm

Monthly, either in person or virtually, at the time and place designated by the City Clerk.

Four members

Must be:

 - at least 18 years of age; and

 - a Resident of Calgary,; or

 - an Indigenous person who may reside outside of Calgary but is a resident of the Calgary surrounding area within the Treaty 7 region, including those Indigenous persons who belong to the Blackfoot Confederacy, made up of the Siksika, Piikani, Amskaapipiikani and Kainai First Nations; the Îethka Nakoda Wîcastabi First Nations, comprised of the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations; and the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and those persons who are Métis, including citizens of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government residing in Foothills Métis District 1, Medicine Hat Métis District 2, Red Deer Métis District 3, Rocky View Métis District 4, Calgary Nose Hill Métis District 5 and Elbow Métis District 6.

Meetings are not open to the public.

Media are not entitled to attend Board hearings.

Meetings are not recorded via video or audio tape unless the meeting is held virtually. Once the decision letters have been written, the video and audio will be deleted.

TIME REQUIREMENT
For Members:
     o    1 – 3 hours per month to review documentation prior to each hearing
     o    3 hours per month to attend the appeal hearing
For the Chair:
     o    Same as above with the addition of 1 extra hour per month to meet with Administration if required and/or assist with recruitment for new members
