In accordance with the Libraries Act, the Calgary Public Library Board, subject to any enactment that limits its authority, has full management and control of the Calgary Public Library and shall, in accordance with the regulations, organize, promote and maintain comprehensive and efficient library services in the City of Calgary and may cooperate with other boards and libraries in the provision of those services.
Board Information
Term length: Up to three (3) years
Term limit: All Members can serve a maximum of 3 consecutive terms, unless Council passes with a two thirds majority, a resolution to reappoint that member (Bylaw 38M2006)

Not fewer than 5 and not more than 10 members.

The Calgary Public Library Board is not part of the City Clerk's advertisement, recruitment and appointment of the Boards, Commissions and Committees process.
Appointments are made by City Council at the Organizational Meeting of Council in October of each year.
Ineligible to apply:
- A person who is an employee of the municipal board is not eligible to be a member of that board.
