Term Length:

• The members of the Local Assessment Review Board and the members of the Composite Assessment Review Board, excluding provincial members, shall hold office for a 1 year term or a 2 year term, as determined by Council at the time of appointment, commencing on January 1st following the date of that member's appointment and ending on December 31st of the year the member's term expires.

Term Limit:

• A member of the Local Assessment Review Board and a member, other than a provincial member, of the Composite Assessment Review Board shall not serve more than a cumulative maximum of twelve years.
  Any terms served by a member prior to April 1, 2017 are not included in the calculation of terms served.

Monday to Thursday; beginning in late April until late October or early November

• Morning Session begin at 9:00 am
• Afternoon Session begin at 1:30 pm

Must be current residents of the city of Calgary and must be 18 years of age or older.

Appointed members must complete a training approved by the Minister of Municipal Affairs.

Ineligible:

• Tax agents, assessors, and employees of the City of Calgary are not eligible to be members of the Calgary ARB.
• Former tax agents, assessors and employees of the City of Calgary may not sit as members of the Calgary ARB until at least one year after their position as a tax agent, assessor or employee of the City of Calgary has ended.

Members are assigned hearings on a rotating basis, typically for a week at a time, and must be available for the entire week scheduled.
